Etowah River Fishing Report 7/9/2018

Jul 9, 2018 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Striper Fishing on the Etowah has slowed this week but look for the bite to pick up as we move towards the New Moon. The River is stained but clearing and today’s Generation should help flush some of the dirty water and clear the river up. Temps are hovering between 67 and 72 Degrees at Allatoona Dam and the warming temps mean the mid-day fishing will get tougher and tougher from here on out. They Key to Striper success for the remainder of summer will be getting out early or fishing late in the evening. Fly selection should include a few of your favorite baitfish patterns in the 3-5 inch range, a couple of our favorites include Thalken’s Cruiser in Shad or Anchovy, Major Mullet, and Murdich Minnows.

Bass fishing is good and the topwater bite should be coming on strong with the warming water temps and the arrival of the yearly Cicada hatch. Big green Cicadas hatch yearly here in the southeast and the Bass key in on these clumsy flying insects so be sure to stock up on plenty of green BoogleBugs before you head to the river!

Check the Generation schedule before you plan your trip! We do not recommend that you float the Etowah if Allatoona dam is releasing water!
